Working for three different radio stations while pursuing his Bachelor's of Science in Broadcasting and a minor in Psychology from the University of Tennessee, Richard knew he wanted a career in the entertainment field. After leaving the University of Tennessee, Richard returned to his native Nashville to pursue goals in the music industry. In Nashville, he interned for Warner Bros. Records, eventually landing an administrative position with the company. While at Warner Bros., Richard met veteran gospel talent Russ Taff who was embarking on a new career in the Country genre. Eager to travel, he accepted a position as a production assistant with Russ Taff and spent next six months learning the ropes of the road.
In June of 1997, Richard joined TBA Entertainment Corporation (then Warner/Avalon) as a tour coordinator. In the coordinator role, he toured the country, managing the production of music-related sponsorships including Fruit of the Loom's CountryFest, Blockbuster Entertainment's RockFest, and two Red Lobster tours with Leann Rimes and Reba McEntire.
In 1998, Richard served as the Site Coordinator for the Opening Ceremonies of the Goodwill Games, an Emmy Award-winning live two-hour television event broadcast on Turner Networks from the World Financial Center in New York City. The production of the Opening Ceremonies was an enormous undertaking that included the coordination of entities including The World Financial Center, Battery Park Authority, North Cove Yacht Harbor Administration, and the New York Mercantile Exchange. Richard also oversaw the credentialing of over 400 guests, artists, performers, workers and officials complete with background checks administered by the FBI.
In 1999, Richard served as Associate Producer for the live pay-per-view reunion of the Original Bad Company featuring Paul Rodgers. Eventually advancing to the position of Project Manager with TBA, he oversaw the operations of numerous tours, live pay-per-view programs, and special events. Clients included American Express, Oldsmobile, and Mars Music; with Artists ranging from Metallica and Bad Company, to Roberta Flack and Al Jarreau.
In January of 2001, Richard left TBA and spent the next two years as a freelance tour sponsorship manager as well as event coordinator. In that time, he managed several music tour sponsorships on behalf of GMR Marketing, one of the nation's largest Entertainment Marketing brokers, for clients including Carter-Wallace Pharmaceuticals and Microsoft.
In the fall of 2002, Richard joined the staff of Tangible Vision as an Associate Producer. Richard worked day to day with photographers, footage houses, Artist managers, and even family members of various music Artists to assemble visual elements that convey the compelling life stories of some of music's most significant Artists in Tangible Vision's production, CMT Inside Fame.
At the conclusion of CMT Inside Fame series' run, Richard joined the staff of Anode, a digital design and content creation firm. He currently acts as Client Services Director overseeing the start-up of a new arm of the company, Ignitor Content & Network Development Services.
When not working, Richard enjoys traveling, hiking, canoeing, and camping.
